Trotskyism or Leninism?
MATERIALISM and EMPIRIO-CRITICISM
Obama's "New Party" had the
Marxism-Leninism Committees of Correspondence
for Democracy and Socialism began in 1991 when approximately one third
of the Communist Party USA membership split from the party to form a new
organization. In 2000, Committees of Correspondence (CoC or CofC)
became Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism (CCDS).
Sam Webb, chairman of the CPUSA, introduced social democracy!

Obamacare is a
5 year plan. There is also a five year plan on offshore drilling. There is a 5 year plan on NASA budget freeze.
The
New Party was a Marxist political coalition whose objective was to
endorse and elect leftist public officials — most often Democrats. The
New Party’s short-term objective was to move the Democratic Party
leftward, thereby setting the stage for the eventual rise of new Marxist
third party.
Most New Party members hailed from the Democratic
Socialists of America and the militant organization ACORN. The party’s
Chicago chapter also included a large contingent from the Committees of
Correspondence, a Marxist coalition of former Maoists, Trotskyists, and
Communist Party USA members.
The New Party’s modus operandi
included the political strategy of “electoral fusion,” where it would
nominate, for various political offices, candidates from other parties
(usually Democrats), thereby enabling each of those candidates to occupy
more than one ballot line in the voting booth. By so doing, the New
Party often was able to influence candidates’ platforms. (Fusion of this
type is permitted in seven states — Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho,
Mississippi, New York, South Carolina, and Vermont — but is common only
in New York.)
Though Illinois was not one of the states that
permitted electoral fusion, in 1995 Barack Obama nonetheless sought the
New Party’s endorsement for his 1996 state senate run. He was successful
in obtaining that endorsement, and he used a number of New Party
volunteers as campaign workers.
In 1996, three of the four
candidates endorsed by the New Party won their electoral primaries. The
three victors included Barack Obama (in the 13th State Senate District),
Danny Davis (in the 7th Congressional District), and Patricia Martin,
who won the race for Judge in the 7th Subcircuit Court. All four
candidates attended an April 11, 1996 New Party membership meeting to
express their gratitude for the party’s support.
The New Party’s various chapters similarly helped to elect dozens of other political candidates in a host of American cities.
One
of the more notable New Party members was Carl Davidson, a
Chicago-based Marxist who became a political supporter of Barack Obama
in the mid-1990s.
In 1997 the New Party’s influence declined
precipitously after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that electoral fusion
was not protected by the First Amendment’s freedom of association
clause. By 1998 the party was essentially defunct. Daniel Canto and
other key party members went on to establish a new organization with
similar ideals, the Working Families Party of New York.
This news
pretty much confirms that Barack Obama is at the very least a
neo-Marxist and also confirms the claim that he is one of the most far
left leaning Senators we have in office today.
This man is no
“new” politician, no “centrist,” and not interested in ever “reaching
across the aisle.” This whole “new way” line of bunkum is all smoke a
mirrors.
In fact, at no time have any of the fundamentals of
left-wing economic and political theories originated in the United
States. The Marxian socialist theories were brought to the United States
by German immigrants. The Leninist-Stalinist doctrines were distilled
in Russia. The Fabian socialist theories with their Keynesian garb
originated in England. Mr. Keynes, following Karl Marx, used the great
corporation as an institution increasingly ripe for state control or
outright ownership. He finds many parallels with the state trusts of
Soviet Russia. the Fabian-Keynesian technique influenced the Communists
to such an extent that some of the top Communist Party leadership wanted
to accept the Fabian form completely. Earl Browder as secretary of the
Communist Party in 1945 proposed its dissolution and the reorganization
of the Communists into an educational institution. This body should put
up no election candidates of its own and would ‘be non-partisan in
character. The Keynesians and the Communists remain blood-brothers to
the end.
Many Trotskyists argue that workers in "oppressor"
nations (such as the USA or Israel) must first support national
liberation movements in "oppressed" nations (such as Afghanistan or
Palestine) before there can be any basis for proletarian
internationalism.Tony Cliff "Israel is not a colony suppressed by
imperialism, but a settler’s citadel, a launching pad of imperialism. It
is a tragedy that some of the very people who had been persecuted and
massacred in such bestial fashion should themselves be driven into a
chauvinistic, militaristic fervour, and become the blind tool of
imperialism in subjugating the Arab masses."
Proves Pres. Obama
is like a Trotskyist by wanting to change Isarel borders. Trotsky's
"permanent" revolution is, as Lenin said,
"skipping" the peasant movement, "playing at the seizure of power."
Obama's
neo-marxist "mainsteam media" vehicle who cheered Hugo Chavez was
founded by neo-marxist Robert McChesney. The "Free Press" wanted to do
for the U.S. mainstream media what Chavez did to his media....use it as
properganda. Pres. Obama wants to nationalize the media. The majority
of Americans oppose nationalization of the media. The mainstream media
better start a tea party of its own before its too late.
Jerome Corsi - America for Sale says

Yes, Obama has been a communist or Marxist ever since
his high school days in Hawaii. He dropped his official enrollment in
the various Communist parties to join the Democrat party when he ran for
state government, but has maintained close ties the Communist party.
This is a 4 yr communist party like the Communist Party USA or the
Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
Obama stated that a
mentor to him in Hawaii was Frank Marshall Davis, who was a card
carrying member of the old Communist Party USA.bama stated that a mentor
to him in Hawaii was Frank Marshall Davis, who was a card carrying
member of the old Communist Party USA. Gerald Home, a Senior US
Communist, stated while Obama was in Hawaii, "Smith Act trials ... swept
the nation from New York City in 1949 when the entire CPUSA leadership
was placed on trial, then jailed, to Honolulu where a similar trial
occurred in 1952....the response in Honolulu when tens of thousands of
workers went on strike when labor and Communist Party leaders were
convicted of Smith Act violations in 1953 -- a response totally unlike
the response on the mainland."
"Davis's initial contacts with
Hawai`i all had extremely strong ILWU ties. Paul Robson's own Hawai`i
acquaintances, which he passed on to Davis, insured that "when I came
over, one of the first things that I got involved with -- well, I met
all the ILWU brass, Jack Hall and all of them, and I went -- they had
both of us over to various functions for them --Harriet Bouslog (ILWU
lawyer recruited by Bridges who defended the Smith Act case) was also a
good friend" (Davis 1986a, 5:29-30). Davis soon realized that he had
arrived at a very important moment in Hawai`i labor history. The huge
International Longshoreman's Workers Union (ILWU) strike was imminent,
pitting labor against the Big Five. For Davis, this was the kind of
political ferment and struggle between the powerful and powerless that
he thrived upon...."
Rogers of the Center for Wisconsin Strategy,
Madison WI, formed the New Party (NP), a Marxist coalition that
endorsed and helped elect left-wing political candidates with Barack
Obama being a member. In 1995, Obama successfully obtained the
endorsement of the New Party for his upcoming state senate run, drawing
on the organization for campaign workers.
He writes in his book
that when he was 'confused', he would seek out communist rallies with
Marxist speakers. While at Columbia, he meet Bill Ayers, who was a
prominent Communist, and befriended Edward Said, who was the President
of Columbia's Communist Party.
The Obama campaign has hired many
former communists, and the ones that have been exposed have been fired
or quit. For example, Obama's Muslim outreach coordinator, Mazen Asbahi.

Sam Graham-Felsen, hired to
run Obama's blog, writes about Noam Chomsky in a Marxist publications
that openly calls for revolution against the American government. This
is a Presidential candidate's choice to run the on-line portion of his
campaign.
After being expelled from
Socialist Action in 1999, we formed Socialist Workers Organization in
an attempt to carry on the project of building a nucleus of a
revolutionary party true to the historic teachings and program of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Trotsky.
Obama's health care, tax, welfare, spending, and foreign relations
policies have all started at highly communist points. During the
primary, and now final campaigns, he has tempered his policies to
address all criticisms, but 'off camera' moments have revealed that
Obama still very much intends to carry through with his original,
highly socialist and communist plans.
Sam Graham-Felsen quote
The capitalist ruling
class of the United States exercises a virtual dictatorship not only
over American society, but also over the entire world. This capitalist
class rule is the basic cause of the poverty, wars and the degradation
of the natural environment.

for dytopian nationalized healthcare. If it was an absolute dytopian
socialist healthcare like Canada than our economy would tank more as a
train wreck. The liberal congress hasn't bailed out congress. His chiefs
of staff tell me on Fox News Channel that he wants to us to live with a
nuclear Iran which is liberal and something else. Congress need a
trillion just to bail out California, the 8th largest economy in the
world and
I don't want congress to bail out California,
because our capitalism would fix itself with Reagonomics. It's the
government that is destroying capitalism, not so much Bernie Madoff,
Richard Fuld Jr. or tom Petters. The debt is nearly 13 trillion, and
Congress hasn't even implemented the 4 trillion BTU tax (tax and
trade/green hell) and 2 trillion Obamathcare. Get rid of the possible
Communist regime before the US dollar completely fails and we're under
the IMF International dollar with China more /w it.t A conspiracy bigger
than watergate! China isn't bailing us out. You socialist all are,
because there is only 1 party in town, right? California is going to be

2025.
Barack Obama as FDR is untrue, but its quite interesting
that FDR III was working on combining Marxism and capitalism (monopoly

the congress acts like Soviet Democracy or along those lines. What we
need is to keep privatized insurance as it existed in the past, clean up
bankrupted Medicare and cap the spending on that, keep capitalism as
small businesses make up the majority of the US economy, build new
nuclear power plants, and fight to win wars that threaten our freedom
like it always does. I think that Newt Gingrich, John Bolton, Richard
Morris, and Sara Palin are great politicans and more in line with my
thinking.

As far as "global warming" or Cap and trade/BTU tax bill,
the Worker's World Party (a 3rd American Communist Party after CPUSA,

conclusion that American communists love cap and trade, because "green

Leninists believe that every minority race is a victim and must be tried
even when its ununformed terrorists. . Then the CPUSA moved to NYC and

idea is not a fraud and despite Australia alienating their cap and trade

It's about all the socialist poor countries getting millions US Dollars
from the nearly bankrupted progressive-in-name-only USA. Obama doesn't
believe that Medicare is a huge ponzi scheme and the elderly aren't
commiting generational thief (but they are), and Van Jones was just
plain a CPUSA politician who got on board due to a bizzare amount of
loop holes just like Atina Dunn.
Here is what communist community organizer Saul Alinsky, author of "Rules for Radicals" said in his book, "
Last
we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very
first radical, from all our legends, mythology leaves off and history
(and who knows where the mythology leaves off and history begins or
which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the
establishment and did it so effectively that be at least won his own
kingdom - Lucifer." So Marxism is evil even according to the radical.

This
is probably a social engineering tactic, but the communist party of
China and CPUSA are turning into "Social Democracy" to liberalize their
economies. We know liberalize as making capitalist economies. That
still isn't an excuse for czars and marxist leninists in the executive
branch or EPA to lie and say we're the "New Democratic Party" (Canada).
WE know that Nancy Polosi isn't going a great job at liberalizing;

He brings consistent anti-right, anti-corporate, pro-peace positions to
the presidential primaries and debates. None of the other candidates
can make the same claim. The more he speaks to audiences of the core
forces, the better positioned the movement will be to win in 2008 and to
fight the good fight in 2009.

great
promise and historic purpose in the world." But, Obama says, "America
cannot meet the threats of this century alone, and the world cannot meet
them without America
Barack Obama "America must commit to
strengthening the pillars of a just society. We can help build
accountable institutions that deliver services and opportunity... . In
countries wracked by poverty and conflict, citizens long to enjoy
freedom from want. And since extremely poor societies and weak states
provide optimal breeding grounds for disease, terrorism, and conflict,
the United States has a direct national security interest in
dramatically reducing global poverty and joining with our allies in
sharing more of our riches to help those most in need"
Gramscians
view the international system as an integrated capitalist system in
pursuit of capital accumulation. Troyskists have a Vanguard Party and
the Gramscians has consul communism. I say Gramscian, because he was a
part of the neo-marxist "New Party" in 1995 before joining Democratic
Party.
Theoretical Approach
In the mainstream approaches
to international or global political economy the ontological centrality
of the state is not in question. In contrast, Neo-Gramscianism, using an
approach which Henk Overbeek calls transnational historical
materialism, "identifies state formation and interstate politics as
moments of the transnational dynamics of capital accumulation and class
formation".[3] It contrasts with the positivism and social
constructivist approaches of mainstream perspectives through "a
rejection of the separation between subject and object... and the
adoption of a dialectic understanding of reality as a dynamic totality
and as a unity of opposites."
Hegemony
The neo-Gramscian
view of hegemony is distinct from the realist view of hegemony. Realists
view hegemony as the "predominant power of a state (or a group of
states)."[5] Gramscians look at hegemony in terms of class relations. A
class is considered hegemonic if it has legitimized its dominance
through institutions and concessions.[6] When a class has established
dominance in this way, as well as in the formal political structural of a
state, then it constitutes a historic bloc. Neo-Gramscians argue that,
because of globalisation, a neoliberal transnational historic bloc
exists or is coming into existence.
Counterhegemony
A
counterhegemony refers to an alternate normative interpretation of the
functioning of social, economic, and political institutions. If a
counterhegemony grows large enough it is able to subsume and replace the
historic bloc it was born in. Neo-Gramscians use the Machiavellian
terms war of position and war of movement to explain how this is
possible. In a war of position a counterhegemonic movement attempts,
through persuasion or propaganda, to increase the number of people who
share its view on the hegemonic order; in a war of movement the
counterhegemonic tendencies which have grown large enough overthrow,
violently or democratically, the current hegemony and establish
themselves as a new historic bloc.
The world in a down-ward liberal spiral, maybe even a

governed US society (we all know VI Lenin and Leon Trosky scored high
on SAT test) where there is no money in the treasury. The greater good
is a free market society with a healthy treasury that has centre-left,
centre-right politics over state-capitalist society.
State-capitalist society is basically just a vision of VI Lenin had in
the USSR in 1910 that was inevitable. Liberals think it is great because
the government brainwashes citizens, taxes citizens very highly, and
citizens cannot do whatever he/she want to do. The public sector always
costs the private sector taxes so the private sector has to be many
times larger; therefore, all the jobs need to be in the private sector.
We don't have free houses. Trosky believed in soviet democracy with the
Revolutionary Socialist party and proletarian internationalism, and
some Trot variants (1)
believe USSR was state-capitalist. In The Anti-Œdipus, Gilles Deleuze
and Félix Guattari followed up 3rd Reich's problem: "why did the masses
desire fascism?", which led them to a critique of Freudo-Marxism (aka
Frankfurt School).

Marxism-Leninism: A Flourishing Science that:
"Scientific
socialism, Marxism-Leninism, is the only basis on which the present
deep crisis of capitalist society can be analyzed, and the ways out of
the impasse into which imperialism and its ruling element has driven its
countries, can be determined...
"Those who maintain that
Marxism-Leninism is 'outdated' and that the fundamental ideas of Marx,
Engels and Lenin are 'incompetent' may be asked: whose teaching is it
that provided and continues to provide solutions to all the agonizing
problems facing millions upon millions of people in the capitalist
world...
"Why are capitalist countries continually gripped by
economic crises, who do the poor there grow poorer and the rich grow
richer, why is there unemployment, with millions of people deprived of
jobs? Why is ruin the lot of millions of farmers? What are the causes of
the first and second world wars? Why are militarization and the arms
race being intensified in capitalist countries, and preparations are
under way for new wars?
"No bourgeois or petty-bourgeois theory
has been able to answer these vital and burning questions.
Marxism-Leninism is the only teaching that gives substantiated
scientific answers to these and other problems of our time, and shows
the ways and means of resolving them." (Boris N. Ponomarev,

Firstly,
there is “a new economic model …high road development …the best
thinking that he represents is now reflected in the White House.”
Secondly,
“…the New Party, which is now the Working Families Party…the idea of a
‘new politics’ that you could actually have in this country bringing
together labor, civil rights, feminists…and actually make a
difference…is the basic framework for what just took over the White
House.”
Thirdly, …”his idea of a new energy paradigm. His
founding the Apollo Alliance. I believe the stimulus is going to put
something like $80 billion in this direction…”
Jones credits
Rogers with dreaming up the White House economic model – basically a
21st century “green” version of corporate socialism. Rogers also
allegedly masterminded the electoral alliance that put Obama in the
driver’s seat. He then founded the organization that helped write the
“stimulus bill”, which is now funneling billions into a movement
primarily designed to keep the Obama and the Democrats in power.
That’s a lot of influence for one man. Does Van Jones exaggerate? Let’s investigate.
The
New Party which Rogers and Dan Cantor founded in the early 90s, was an
attempt to to unite the poor, Blacks, Latinos , labor and “community
groups” to work with and inside the Democratic Party to elect large
numbers of leftist candidates to public office.
The party was
essentially amalgam of four organizations -radical Washington DC “think
tank” the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), Democratic Socialists of
America (DSA), Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and
Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN).
The
first strategic meetings to plan the New Party were held in Joel
Rogers’ home in Madison Wisconsin in the very early 1990s. Present were
Rogers’ wife Sarah Siskind, Dan Cantor (now leading the New party
spin-off Working Families Party in New York) , ACORN leaders Wade Rathke
, Zach Polett , Steve Kest and Jon Kest and IPS linked activists Steve
Cobble , Harriet Barlow and Sam Pizzigati .
The very first
meeting included Gerry Hudson from DSA and SEIU and early ACORN leader
and IPS affiliate Gary Delgado. Anthony Thigpenn, from Los Angeles was
also approached, but though supportive, did not wish to play a
leadership role.
Incidentally, both Delgagdo and Thigpenn were later supporters of Van Jones’ anti Iraq War magazine War Times.
The party was socialist in character, but only revealed its true nature to friends.
In
March 28-30 1997 Democratic Socialists of America convened their annual
Socialists Scholars Conference at Borough of Manhattan Community
College, New York. Barack Obama, incidentally, attended some of these
conferences in the early 1980s.
The 1997 conference was themed “Radical alternatives on the eve of the millennium”.
Invitees
were asked to join the debate on “changes in the labor movement,
Marxist theory, the state of the economy, market socialism, and other
areas where theory and practice meet…listen to the United States’ only
independent and socialist congressman, Rep. Bernie Sanders…”dialogue
with Joel Rogers of the New Party… ”
Barack Obama joined the New
Party in Chicago, during his 1995 Illinois State Senate run. Obama was
also a leader of the Chicago New Party sister organization , Progressive
Chicago, as far back as 1993. Other Progressive Chicago leaders
included Keith Kelleher of SEIU and ACORN, Kelleher’s wife, Madeline
Talbott (ACORN) and Ron Sable, Danny K . Davis and Lou Pardo of DSA.
The
New Party relied on “fusion” voting for its success. Candidates ran on
both the Democrat and New Party lines, combing the vote totals from
both. This practice was illegal in many states, so in 1997, Rogers and
his wife Sarah Siskind took a case to the Supreme Court seeking to
overturn the state bans.
Sarah Siskind
According to the The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel December 5, 1996;
With allusions to possible electoral chaos, justices of the U.S.
Supreme Court expressed skepticism Wednesday over an effort to overturn
40 state laws that forbid nominations of the same candidate by more than
one political party.
The high court heard arguments in a
case from Minnesota that was orchestrated by a Wisconsin couple Joel
Rogers, a University of Wisconsin-Madison law professor, and his wife,
Madison attorney Sarah E. Siskind.
Rogers is a co-founder and
national chair of the New Party, which describes itself as progressive
and claims 10,000 members nationwide. The party has elected candidates
for local offices in Wisconsin and elsewhere.
The case failed and
‘”fusion” voting was ruled unconstitutional. Deprived of its main
tactic, the New Party, went into sharp decline, surviving under the
Working Families Party banner in New York and a few other states.
Coincidentally,
Sarah Siskind worked for the the Madison Wisconsin office of Barack
Obama’s Chicago law firm, Miner, Barnhill and Galland.
In 2002
Sarah Siskind represented ACORN in a successful class action against
sub-prime mortgage lender Household Finance Corporation.
According to Miner, Barnhill and Galland;
For the last ten years, the firm (principally Sarah Siskind) has
also represented individual consumers and organizational plaintiffs in
class action lawsuits challenging predatory lending practices. These
include a series of deceptive practices actions brought in Illinois,
California and Massachusetts against Household Finance Corporation, and
recently consolidated in In re Household Lending Litigation, Case No.
C-02-1240 and Related Cases, N.D. Ca.) and settled for $152 million in
benefits and future practice change relief…
Siskind won a
settlement against Household Finance Corporation which gave delinquent
borrowers interest rate reductions, waivers of unpaid late charges,
deferral of accrued unpaid interest and principal reductions.
It
was a socialist “win-win” situation. Siskind and Miner, Barhill &
Galland made money, ACORN was able to force another mortgage lender to
make more soft loans to its “core constituency” and the 2008 sub-prime
mortgage collapse was brought one step closer.
Some commentators
have surmised that some socialists leftists, working through ACORN and
similar groups may have deliberately promoted sub- prime lending as a
way of creating economic chaos, thereby provoking a subsequent increase
in government involvement in the economy.
They point to the now
famous Cloward-Piven Strategy devised in th e 1960s by Richard Cloward
and his wife Frances Fox Piven. The “Cloward-Piven” plan involved
enrolling as many people as possible onto state welfare programs. The
point was to overload and collapse the state systems, leading to a
Federal takeover of welfare.
Interestingly, when Richard Cloward
died in 2001, 500 people gathered at the CUNY Graduate Center in New
York City to celebrate his life and work. Speakers included Frances Fox
Piven, Barbara Ehrenreich, Cornel West, (all New Party founders and DSA
members) Gus Newport (DSA member) Howard Zinn (New Party founder), Joel
Rogers and Miles Rapoport.
Coincidentally Rapoport was the
president of the New York based “think tank” Demos, an official partner
organization of the Institute for Policy Studies and a close ally of
ACORN.
Barack Obama helped establish Demos in 1999-2000 and
became a Trustee of the organization. Van Jones also later served as a
Demos Trustee, but is currently on leave.
In 1998 Chicago DSA
activist and IPS affiliate James Weinstein presided over a major Chicago
“Back to Basics” conference designed to re-align the U.S. left back to
“class politics”
To explore how we (the Left) can increase our presence in the mainstream of American political and intellectual life.
Speakers
included Dr. Quentin Young (DSA member , New Party founder , Barack
Obama long time friend , mentor and physician) Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz (a
San Francisco based activist and comrade of Van Jones’), plus DSA
comrades Christine Riddiough, Joseph Schwartz and Roberta Lynch.
Joel Rogers, founder of The New Party, listed people’s concerns:
education, campaign finance reform, environment, raising the minimum
wage, and concern about global capitalism. Neither Democrats nor
Republicans take this list seriously. Liberalism relied on favorable
government regulation and mass politics to deal with problems. A new
time calls for new politics, emphasizing economic strategy, citizen
participation, and electoral strategy.
In 2004, Joel Rogers from
the Center On Wisconsin Strategy, and Robert Borosage from IPS enlisted
DSA friendly Steelworkers President Leo Gerard and SEIU President Andy
Stern, to propose a new alliance of labor, environmental groups,
business and “social justice” leaders – the Apollo Alliance. The
Alliance, which soon included over 200 supporting organizations,
released a report “High Road or Low Road? Job Quality in the New Green
Economy” arguing for a ten-year program of investment in a “clean
energy, good jobs” economy.”
Joel Rogers was the Alliance’s
founding chairman and continues to serve on its board. Borosage is also a
board member, as is Leo Gerard. John Podesta from the Center for
American Progress also serves, but took a break while co-chairing
President Obama’s “transition”, where he
“coordinated the
priorities of the incoming administration’s agenda, oversaw the
development of its policies, and spearheaded its appointments of major
cabinet secretaries and political appointees.”
Podesta also
looked after another Apollo Alliance board member Van Jones, giving him a
job with Center for American Progress , when Jones was forced to exit
the White House.
Besides Rogers, two old New Party affiliates are
involved in the Apollo Alliance. Gerry Hudson of DSA and SEIU serves as
a board member. Anthony Thigpenn serves on the Apollo Alliance advisory
board and runs the Apollo affiliate in Los Angeles – which trains “anti
racist environmental organizers.”
Thigpenn is a former member of
the Maoist leaning Black Panther Party, but that’s pretty mild by
Apollo standards. The former head of the New York Apollo Alliance Jeff
Jones, once led the terrorist Weather Underground Organization with he
and President Obama’s ‘s mutual friends , Bill Ayers and Bernardine
Dohrn.
Former DSA youth leader and SEIU organizer Ron Ruggiero, serves as Apollo Alliance National Field Director.
It’s
a safe bet that a good portion of the “stimulus package” $80 Billion
dollars will be going to Van Jones’ Green For All in San Francisco in
San Francisco, to Anthony Thigpenn’s “environmental anti racism”
trainers in Los Angeles and Jeff Jones’ former crew in New York.
Vladimir Lenin
Any good Leninist will tell you. It is not gaining power that is important, it is the KEEPING of power.
Joel
Rogers’ New Party, modeled the movement that put Obama in power. His
Apollo Alliance provides a means for holding that power.
It is
essentially a massive patronage system, where huge amounts of taxpayer’s
money is channeled into radical led “green” camouflaged mass
organizations.
These “green” armies will be the vote herders of
the future. They will confront the Tea Party movement and other patriots
on the streets of America. They will be the paramilitary armies used to
intimidate the very people who fund them.
’s 1996 endorsement by
the New Party: which raises the question: what is the New Party? It’s
easy to allege that this group is closely tied to former communists, but
digging in to the New Party and Obama’s involvement, a very dirty
picture presents itself. In fact, it is abundantly apparent that Barack
Obama not only knew what the New Party was when he sought its
endorsement, but through his ties with ACORN, the radical left activist
organization, Obama used his radical left connections to get elected to
the Illinois State Senate.
Most of the New Party’s history has
been lost in the digital age. It was established in 1992 and started to
die out in 1998, well before Google and the modern web were established.
But through lengthy searches of the Nexis archive and microfilm at the
local university library, I’ve been able to piece this together.
The
New Party was established in 1992 “by union activist Sandy Pope and
University of Wisconsin professor Joel Rogers,” USA Today reported on
November 16, 1992. The paper wrote that the new party was
“self-described [as] ‘socialist democratic.’”
Throughout its
creation and rise, the New Party sought to unite alienated leftists who
had grown disgusted by Bill Clinton’s embrace of the center-left
Democratic Leadership Council. The Wisconsin State Journal summed up
where the Left was in February of 1992. “Angry Americans,” Jesse Waldman
wrote, “particularly left-wing Democrats, are tired of choosing between
the lesser of two evils when they go to the ballot now.” A July 4,
1996, column in the Los Angeles Times by Todd Gitlin, which championed
the New Party as “both old-fashioned and elegant” proclaimed the New
Party as a path to victory for leftists alienated by the Democrats and
Republicans. Capturing the mood of the left in a May 31, 1998 article
for the leftist magazine In These Times, Doug Ireland wrote, “As Bob
Master of the Communication Workers of America — the point-man for the
new labor ballot line — puts it: ‘The political perspective of labor and
working people has no voice in state politics, especially since the
Democratic Party has moved to the right.”
The seeds, however, had
been sown all the way back in 1988. Quoting John Nichols in the March
22, 1998 issue of In These Times, “The roots of the New Party go back to
the aftermath of Jesse Jackson’s run for president in 1988. At that
time, Dan Cantor, who had served as labor coordinator for the Jackson
campaign, and University of Wisconsin sociology professor Joel Rogers
began talking about how to formulate an alternative between the
increasingly indistinguishable Democratic-Republican monolith.”
It
is no great leap to say, as a result, that Barack Obama’s rise to the
Democratic nomination is the child of Jesse Jackson’s defeat.
Read on . . .
Understanding Fusion
In
light of dissatisfaction with the Democrats' rightward drift, the New
Party set about establishing itself as a third-party third-way for
ballot access. “Fusion,” was the idea. Continuing with Jesse Waldman
from the Wisconsin State Journal, “[Fusion] would allow a left-wing
candidate … to run as both a Democrat and [a third party] candidate.
Proponents of this ‘fusion’ strategy include Mary K. Baum, co-chair of
Wisconsin Labor-Farm, and Joel Rogers, a UW-Madison law and sociology
professor who has helped organize The New Party.”
Fusion is a
pretty simple concept. A candidate could run as both a Democrat and a
New Party member to signal the candidate was, in fact, a left-leaning
candidate, or at least not a center-left DLC type candidate. If the
candidate, let’s call him Barack Obama, received only 500 votes in the
Democratic Party against another candidate who received 1000 votes,
Obama would clearly not be the nominee. But, if Obama also received 600
votes from the New Party, Obama’s New Party votes and Democratic votes
would be fused. He would be the Democratic nominee with 1100 votes.
The
fusion idea set off a number of third parties, but the New Party was
probably the most successful. A March 22, 1998 In These Times article by
John Nichols showed just how successful. “[The Wall Street] Journal’s
editorialists fretted last fall about how the New Party was responsible
for a labor movement that was drifting leftward …. As [openly declared
socialist] Rep. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) puts it, ‘If the Wall Street
Journal editorial page goes after you, you can pretty well bet you’re
doing the right thing.’”
Nichols’s article goes into detail about
the New Party’s scope. “After six years, the party has built what is
arguably the most sophisticated left-leaning political operation the
country has seen since the decline of the Farmer-Labor, Progressive and
Non-Partisan League groupings of the early part of the century …. In
1996, it helped Chicago’s Danny Davis, a New Party member, win a
Democratic congressional primary, thereby assuring his election in the
majority-black district …. The threat of losing New Party support, or of
the New Party running its own candidates against conservative
Democrats, would begin a process of forcing the political process to the
left, [Joel] Rogers argued.”
Fusion, fortunately for the
country, died in 1998 1997. William Rehnquist, writing for a 6-3 Supreme
Court, found the concept unconstitutional was not a protected
constitutional right. It was two years too late to stop Obama.1
Onward to the Socialist Utopia
The
New Party was designed as a loose confederation of unions, socialists,
communists, and black activists who shared common values, but often had
different goals. According to John Nichols, its party platform included:
full employment
a shorter work week
a guaranteed minimum income for all adults and a universal “social wage”
full public financing of elections with universal voter registration
“the democratization of banking and financial systems”, which included public control and regulation of banking
a more progressive tax system
reductions in military spending and an end to unilateral military interventions.
In
Arkansas, Minnesota, Oregon, and other places the New Party has worked
hand in hand with ACORN and local unions to block public policy changes
that have included prison expansion, government subsidized stadiums, and
zoning changes to bring in “big box” stores. In 2000, Missoula County,
Montana Commissioner Barbara Evans, after fighting the New Party over
buidling a home-improvement store, told the Oregonian, “They’re bad
news. I consider them socialist-communist in their beliefs.”
On
December 1, 1994, after the Gingrich revolution swept the Democrats from
congress and forced Bill Clinton to triangulate, the Chicago Tribune
ran an article by Steve Mills entitled “Looking for the Left: The Old
Progressives and Marxists Still Breathe Idealist Fire, but They’re Too
Spintered to Generate Any Heat.”
“‘The Left is in crisis, and it
has been for some time,’ said Carl Davidson, the former national
secretary for the radical Students for a Democratic Society. ‘I don’t
know if it’s even bottomed out yet,’” he reported to Mr. Mills. Mills
continued, “The Socialist Workers Party is in this corner; the
International Socialist Organization is in this one. The [communist
group Committee of Correspondence] is in another. The radicals, or even
the liberals with some radical leanings — so-called ‘soft radicals’ —
seem to find it hard to abandon individual issues for a broader
movement.”
But, Mills reported, “It is amid this political
confusion that The New Party would like to step in. ‘If there’s anything
that defines the American Left, it’s fragmentation,’ said Dan Cantor,
the party’s national organizer.… The New Party aims to change that. By
uniting the progressives behind a cohesive ideology, one that, in theory
at least, will have room for all the factions that now litter the
landscape of the Left, The New Party is confident progressives can again
be strong.”
The New Party, ACORN, and Growth
Steve Mills,
writing for the Chicago Tribune, spent some time surveying where the
New Party stood in 1994 Chicago, two years before Obama sought and
received its endorsement. “Although its Chicago organization is not yet
fully formed, in other parts of the country it has run candidates in
local races.” The races had, at that time, all been fairly small.
However, they had not yet fully connected with Barack Obama. Dan Cantor,
ironic given Obama’s preacher problems of late, summed up his vision
for the New Party as it headed into Chicago, telling Steve Mills, “We’re
of that Left tradition that thinks we could have a majority out there
someday.… We want to build a church, not a sect. Because if the Left is
going to amount to anything, it’s going to be made up of groups have
have reached their limit on one issue.”
In 1993, the New Party
had moved into New York to be a major player. Newsday’s Bob Liff
interviewed Jan Pierce, the local organizer for the New Party. Pierce
told Liff that David Dinkins was the type of progressive candidate New
Party members liked. As the party tried to take off in New York, it was
not only trying to get access to the ballot, “but to have some
ideological purity.” In fact, the New Party had made such a name for
itself that Al Sharpton had considered an attempt at the New Party’s
endorsement for the United States Senate.
In 1995, Newsday
reported “New Party-endorsed candidates have run in 120 elections for
school board and zoning board and city councils, winning 77 races,
including a Chicago alderman’s slot.”
By 1996, the New Party had
solidified its ties with ACORN, unions, and the left so much so that
even the New York Times referred to it as “leftist.” Manning Marable,
writing in the left-wing New York Beacon, on October 23, 1996, wrote
that “there are four key components in this strategy for progressive
political change.” Among those components were civil disobedience and
“support for independent movements like the New Party which are running
candidates in local races. More importantly an innovative approach to
electoralism is represented by ACORN’s ‘living wage’ referenda
campaigns.”
The Chicago Democratic Socialists of America were
quite pleased in 1996 with the New Party’s success including the
election of “Barack Obama, victor in the 13th State Senate District,
[who] encouraged [New Party members] to join in his task forces on Voter
Education and Voter Registration”. (h/t to Rick Moran)
In These
Times reported on February 17, 1997, that “the [New] [P]arty, with 80
members in the [17th] ward, many of whom are also active in the Service
Employees International Union and the advocacy group ACORN, has begun to
build a parallel precinct organization.”
Obama’s Rise
With
the New Party’s rise and its entanglements with ACORN came the rise of
Barack Obama. According to Stanley Kurtz, “Acorn is the key modern
successor of the radical 1960’s ‘New Left,’ with a ‘1960’s-bred agenda
of anti-capitalism’ to match.” And Barack Obama was ACORN’s lawyer.
Using
his position at ACORN in 1995, Obama set up the playing field for his
election the following year. The Boston Globe reports, “Obama was part
of a team of attorneys who represented the Association of Community
Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) in a lawsuit against the state of
Illinois in 1995 for failing to implement a federal law designed to make
it easier for the poor and others to register as voters. A federal
court ordered the state to implement the law.” The Globe also notes,
“Obama was part of a team of lawyers representing black voters and
aldermen that forced Chicago to redraw ward boundaries that the City
Council drew up after the 1990 census. They said the boundaries were
discriminatory. After an appeals court ruled the map violated the
federal Voting Rights Act, attorneys for both sides drew up a new set of
ward boundaries.”
With districts redrawn, ingratiating himself
to black politicians on his side of the city, and rules loosened on
voter registration, Obama could set out to run. And he did. Obama sought
the New Party endorsement, which required him to sign a contract that
he would keep up his relationship with the New Party.
The end of
the story is simple. Obama won the New Party’s nomination and, through
fusion with his Democratic votes, he became the Democratic nominee.
Using ACORN’s get out the vote efforts and relying on his gerrymandered
Democrat district, Obama moved on to the State Senate. While there, he
paid back the New Party and the far left. He opposed the Born Alive
Infant Protection Act, he opposed legislation that would have prohibited
the sale of pornography across the street from elementary schools and
churches, and he supported allowing criminals to sue their victims if
their victims injured the criminals in self-defense.
Fast forward
twelve years and Obama is running as fast as he can away from the New
Party brand. But beyond a shadow of a doubt, Barack Obama knew what he
was getting into and remains an ideal New Party candidate. The New Party
was, and as it still exists is, an amalgamation of the left and far
left designed to attract far left candidates and move the Democratic
Party back to the left. Barack Obama is an example of the New Party’s
success.
Thank God William Rehnquist ruled fusionism
unconstitutional when he did, or there’d be more of these latent
communists on the march upward into the political establishment.
